Tips on how to ask travel permission from your strict parents

An original post from my tumblr.

OMG! May lakad ang tropa! But how can you ask permission from your parents?  So I made this list based on my experience. Please don’t tell your mom & dad that you got it from me.

✔️Magpakabait ka muna = (Behave/ be the good child)
✔️Gising ng maaga = (Wake up early)
✔️Magprepare ng umagahan = (Prepare the breakfast)
✔️Iready ang sasabihin = (Practice thy speech)
✔️Mata sa mata ang usap = (Eye to eye contact while talking)
✔️Ibida ang goodness ng lakad = (Bring out the goodness of the travel)
✔️Detailed itinerary from Departure to Arrival
✔️Assure them na kaya mong alagaan ang sarili mo na di ka shunga = (Assure your folks that you can take care of yourself and that you are not stupid)
✔️Isa-isahin ang mababait mong kasama at siguraduhing kilala sila ng pagpapaalaman mo = (Introduce all your travel buddies and make sure your folks know them)
✔️Mag-iwan ng isang damukal na contact nos. (This is not OA, dapat lang na alam to ng parents mo, in case of emergency) = (Leave their contact numbers. This is not an exaggerated move. Your parents must knew it in case of emergency.)
✔️Wag mong sasabihin na “Papayagan nyo po ba ako?” = (Do not ask them if they’ll agree on it.)
✔️State the fact na gusto mo talagang sumama, wag patanong = (Do not ask them, state the fact that you really want to join your buddies.)
✔️Magpasalamat sa desisyon = (Be thankful for their decision)
✔️Kapag pumayag, wag kang tatalon, pasimpleng ngiti lang at hug at pumasok sa kwarto = (If they gave you their blessing, do not jump out of joy, simply smile, hug them and go inside your room.)

Get off the Scale!

You are beautiful. Your beauty, just like your capacity for life, happiness, and success, is immeasurable. Day after day, countless people across the globe get on a scale in search of validation of beauty and social acceptance.

Get off the scale! I have yet to see a scale that can tell you how enchanting your eyes are. I have yet to see a scale that can show you how wonderful your hair looks when the sun shines its glorious rays on it. I have yet to see a scale that can thank you for your compassion, sense of humor, and contagious smile. Get off the scale because I have yet to see one that can admire you for your perseverance when challenged in life.

It’s true, the scale can only give you a numerical reflection of your relationship with gravity. That’s it. It cannot measure beauty, talent, purpose, life force, possibility, strength, or love. Don’t give the scale more power than it has earned. Take note of the number, then get off the scale and live your life. You are beautiful!

Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free

I’m a positive person. They say I always see the brighter side of everything. But these past few days, the weaker side of me reigned. I just suddenly felt so worn, restless and I’m sighing countless of times. I’ve been battling with my inner struggles, overthinking and such. Hating my body in particular.

One sleepless night (due to overthinking), as I was desperately looking for something to make me feel better, I browsed my array of e-books. Then I found this title, Life, the Truth, and Being Free by Steve Maraboli, sitting at the bottom part of the list. I gave it a shot and at that hour, I felt so relieved, blessed and renewed.

Why did I post this? (You’re not even interested, are you?) I just want to share the quote to everyone who feels so frustrated at their weight, their figure, image and perception in life because others said so. I’ve been there and this quote helped me, and it might be the same for you.

Fit or not, You are beautiful! Everyone is awesome. Others will always say something and we will always feel bad for it. Let them say their piece and let their words shatter in pieces. Shake those haters off. (Just like what Taylor did.) Share your sunshine, they might be the one who needs it. Nothing can measure the greatness in you. Continue to live and be awesome. As to what my favorite k-drama said, “SWAG!”.

Jan- Nagsisimula yan

Jan- Nagsisimula yan/ January- That is the start

🎊 HAPPY 2017! 🎊

How are you guys? Happy January! *jump jump jump*

The long vacation is officially over. Aww! But despite of going back to work, I feel so ecstatic today. Maybe for the good things to come, yes? Yay!

How’s Christmas? Have you completed the gifts in your wishlist? I ticked off half of it, so it was pretty awesome. Writing this paragraph made me feel so old. Before I was the one impatiently waiting for gifts/aguinaldos, but last holiday season, I was the one delaying their gifts. Hahaha! All in all I do love giving gifts. It just relaxes me seeing someone smiling from ear to ear because you gave that person something he never expects. Surprise!

How’s your vacation? Mine was unpredictable and a roller coaster of emotions. I attended the debut of my friend’s sister. I lost another grandpa, may he rest in peace. I got to spend Christmas with my family at our hometown. My paternal grandfather got into an accident while everyone’s busy for the Christmas Eve. (Glad that he is now fine and as usual, writing.) My father’s clan was almost complete and we took those recreation shots and family pics. (I became the photographer. 📸I went to Star City with my maternal cousins. I went to Caramoan with my bestfriend and our new found travel squad. I spent New Year in the city with my mother’s clan. I spent the whole day after New Year watching Goblin. So for me it was a wonderful vacation. 👍👍

Have you attended some annual family gatherings? (Stories and tweets of friends about theirs was so hilarious.) How are your Aunties and Uncles that haven’t seen you in ages? I wonder, why do they keep on reminiscing our kalokohan/naughtiness when we were young? (Embarrassing, really.) Some were telling you, “Ang laki mo na!” wondering if they mean your height or your weight. That makes you worry of the “holiday fats” that you gained. Now you are thinking of shedding them yet, food is life. Don’t worry, I feel you. 😭

By the by, let us start January with a loud thud. And hopefully more timely blogs. 😁 May our 2017 give us a bang-bang of faith, beng-beng of love, boom-boom of happiness and explosion of bountiful blessings.

Reminder: New Year is not a one time chance to be the best. Because the time to be the best is always. 🎉

Have a great year ahead!

We are really going to Caramoan. And since we need a stopover, we decided to do a side trip to Legaspi. And it didn’t fail us. I assure you, it won’t fail your expectations to see the famous perfect cone shaped mountain, Mt. Mayon.

A bumpy route that passes through water, rocks and trees. Off to the road ride, go!

Chika Alert: I don’t know how to operate a bike nor an ATV. So I was really afraid that the ATV might be a no-no for me. But look at the pics and it will tell you, it is worth the ride. 😉

We chose the easiest and cheapest trail because of the time and money constraints. (Also, I’m too excited to see the waters of Caramoan.)

If you are now considering going to Legaspi and availing this trail, you can look into Mayon SkyDrive ATV Adventure for reference. You can also choose other exciting trails. 😉

Kinda cloudy at this side

My dear readers, that is your prize after the trail, a wonderful masterpiece! And hey! Look below at our Instagram-worthy group shots. 😉

Jump friends!

You can stop by this scenic place after the tiring bumpy ride. There are food stalls near the souvenir shops that will provide you with refreshments. Try their famous chili mango shake that will make your mouth fiery.

Chika Alert: I love spicy foods. So for me the drink is a must try.

Spicy drink

I love how the drink played with my senses. It is refreshingly cold, the sweetness and sourness of the mango fruit blends well with the hotness of the chili. All their chili shakes has levels 1-3 to choose from. I had mine in level 2 and I tell you guys, it is super hooot! 🔥🔥🔥

So after refreshing ourselves with the drink, we all now prepare to be camera ready for another batch of magnificent shots. But before all of that, here’s a little background.

“The Cagsawa Ruins are the remains of a 17th century church built by the Franciscans. … In February 1, 1814, Mt. Mayon began its most violent and deadly eruption in recorded history. Unfortunately, the church, along with most of the town of Cagsawa, was destroyed by lahars and pyroclastic flows, killing thousands of inhabitants.”

“… Today, the site of the Cagsawa ruins is now a park managed by the municipal government of Daraga and is now the most visited tourist spot in Albay. In 2015, the site was declared a national cultural treasure, the Philippines’ highest designation for a cultural property.” — WowLegaspi

Supposed to be trick shot. Hi Jec!

Aside from being a historical site, the church bell is also a famous spot for trick shots such as the photo above. (Sorry I’m not that good at it.)

I love cagsawa

Legaspi is the place to be. The scenic landscape will make you stop walking away from it. It is hard to leave but I need to depart in order to arrive.

See you again Legaspi!
Now, here we go Caramoan!

Time Management: A Scatterbrain’s Guide

What words can you associate with the word time? Schedules, deadlines, urgent, and so on. It is dreadful isn’t it? But positively, time is gold—precious and valuable to everyone. It feels relaxing if you have plenty of it, right?

A person who manages his time effectively is said to be the most productive people, do you guys also agree with that? Yes? Yes. But there are also people who do have so many tasks at hand and jotting them down feels time consuming. Raise yo’ hands up, if you’re with me!

That’s why we have to manage this gift of time. I have some tips for scatterbrains like me to somehow, have a hold of this precious gold. Uy, rhyme.

What do I do now? 😫

TIP #1

Stop. Take a deep breath. Inhale, exhale. Good. Worrying won’t do you any good. This will just worsen the situation. So relax a little. It is always better to start in a blank slate.

Now be steady, this will be quite lengthy.

TIP #2

What do I really need to do vs. What do I want to do

Separate work from your personal life and vice versa. There’s a time for everything that we need and want, this is why we are planning.

  • Think of the tasks you need to accomplish in a day.
  • Think of the tasks you need to do today in order to accomplish it in a specified time frame.
  • Think of the things you need to bring/remember in order to fully accomplish those tasks.
  • Plan ahead for those things that cannot be moved and those that can be done a little later.
  • Plan for your office works, personal errands, social events, and leisure activities.
  • Set plan Bs and Cs in case of emergency. Just to be sure.

Jot them down! You don’t want to miss a thing, do you?
You can set it weekly or monthly so that you can foresee glitches and amend it ASAP.

TIP #3

You should finish that today vs. I have to do this today

Is it your boss that should give you deadlines? No dear! It should be yourself. Give yourself a deadline. Your deadlines should be realistic and achievable. So you can avoid cramming. Ouch! Guilty.

You should not wait for your boss to update you everytime. You’ll earn more credits if you’ve done tasks ahead of time. It will also prove that you’re efficient and worth of your salary. Who knows, you might get that promotion. *Gasps!*

TIP #4

Can you please do this vs. Can I do this

This is not in my plan nor in my list! Learn to say “NO”. My name is no, my sign is no, my number is no, you’ve gotta let it go.

Sometimes there are tasks that were given to us that is not really in the scope of our capability. This won’t mean you are incompetent. No! There are just tasks that requires expertise. You can delegate the responsibility to someone who is more knowledgeable in the field. But this should not stop you from learning new things. Aye!

If you have too much at hand or the plan overlaps, you can ask for some call a friend or rescue 911. You cannot do all things at once. Let others do their share.
Remember: You’re a human, not a machine nor a superhuman. Ding ang bato, Darna!

TIP #5

What is important vs. What is urgent vs. Is it both?

Prioritize things. Alin, alin, alin ang naiba. Plot things as to how it is needed and how much time you can spend to it. As I’ve said, there’s a time-a right one, for everything.

It is not now or never. Does not mean that you can finish it today, you will do it today. What if you still have pending things to do that requires this specific time to meet the earlier deadline, would you sacrifice it? No. Can you not?

Don’t be a risk taker in planning. Be a sure winner. This is the very reason why you are planning! To get the best results. Oh di ba? Winner!

“Time and tide wait for no man.” — so plan!

 After planning what’s next? 😕

TIP #1

This is what we can achieve in planning. Do you really believe you could store it all in your memory and remember all of it at once? No, of course not. So whether you like it or not, you have to somehow sit properly and jot it down.

You can use planners, organizers, table top calendars to remind you these important things. Using these materials will also train your artistic skills in writing. Dual purpose, more time for others. And to make it more portable, you can use that reminder app in your phone. Be the secretary of yourself.

TIP #2

Part of being organized is keeping your “safe haven at work” clean and tidy. They say that the person with the most clutter desk is the one who changes their mind often. Hey watch out!

Tidy that pile of papers and put them in folders and file in your cabinets so that no file would be missing. It will save you time in rummaging all the piles to locate needed documents. It will also elicit that clean and nice work place to give you a little boost to work everyday. Be the janitor of your own space.

TIP #3

Stop asking your workmate about another workmate who passed the resignation a while ago. Stop being a gossipmonger. Do not gossip around and then tell everyone you need more time to finish your work. If you can see people doing that yet they excel in their jobs, you can excel without being like them.

You have extra more time? Go use it. But if you’re at work doing nothing or worse just playing, better yet stay at home and sleep.

Always put in mind that you work for your worth.

TIP #4

Do not put hokus in focus. You have the materials to remind you of the things that needs to be done. But it does not mean it would stay stagnant as a plan. MOVE! You are at work, you have so much to do, focus at work. Focus on the matters that needs to be attended to. One at a time in order for you to finish what you’ve started. That’s why you plan, to make time for everything one by one. Fo-fo-Focus on me.

Focus = No wasted time = Efficient work = Effective time management = Effective planning

“Wasted time is worse than wasted money.” — Remember that, honey.

So there you go guys! Thank you for reading. Just remember, use your time wisely. 😉

Tik. Tok. Tik. Tok. 🕓

Sometimes we spend too much time and energy thinking about where we came from that we don’t notice where we happen to be. Do not let the fear of the past color the future. Don’t live down to expectations. Go out there and do something remarkable. Be an encourager. Scatter sunshine. Who knows whose life you might touch with something as simple as a kind word. Because I think that you’ve got to make something that pleases you and hope that other people will feel the same way too. — QF5A

Nature Working

(I had a busy schedule as always, this is overdue I know. So for my lovely passersby, here you go. Happy reading!)

Opportunities come and go. But when an opportunity came by your desk ready for you to fill, grab that paper and sign in.

Look where it took me, again!

Since I am with my lovely workmates, no extreme adventures for us. Also we only have limited time (meaning a day-24 hours) so we need to go to these places in a hurry. Run, run baby!

This will be short but full of scenic pictures just to make you feel the serenity I felt when I was there. So look closely guys. wink wink

🌲 Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto 🌲

Located on a high hill in the western part of the city is a Catholic shrine and place of meditation where you will find an image of Our Lady of Lourdes.

🌲 Tam-awan Village (Garden in the Sky) 🌲

The Tam-Awan Village is found in the northwestern part of the city. The village represents the culture of Baguio. It showcases the different types of houses that the Igorots built. Since the landscape of Baguio is steep and uphill, roaming around can be quite exhilarating. But the huts can be a perfect place for a quick rest before moving on to the next hut.

When we were there, the steps were slippery because of the rainwater the day before our trip. So we decided not to finish the uphill walk to avoid further accidents.

🌲 Bell Church 🌲

It is located north of the downtown area of Baguio along the road leading to the town of La Trinidad, Benguet. Within its compound are intricately designed arches and buildings adorned with flags, bells and dragons; as well as a pagoda, and beautifully landscaped gardens. There are some artifacts about Buddhism that you will find at the Bell Church as well as some literature about the history of China.

Chika Alert: I love taking pictures of flowers. I really find it amazing how they grow in such awesome colors. 🌼

🌲 Baguio Botanical Garden 🌲

It is also known as the Igorot Village, the Botanical Garden features native huts typical of the type of Igorot dwellings found in the Cordilleras. The village is said to capture the ethnic spirit and cultural legacy of the Igorots and being tranquil and quiet, it is a nice place to just sit down and relax, take a leisurely stroll along its narrow and winding pathways and also enjoy the landscape where you will find numerous plants and trees.

There are Igorots at the entrance who were so willing to take a picture with you but of course it comes with a fee. When we were there they’re asking for Php 50.00/ person.

🌲 Mines View Park 🌲

Lo and behold! There is an observatory deck here that will give you the spectacular panoramic view of Benguet’s mountain ranges.

I advise goers to bring a jacket or cardigan to cover you up. The breeze can get chilly even at noon time.

Landscape at Baguio

🌲 Strawberry Farm 🌲

Due to inclement weather before our trip, there were no ripe strawberries available for picking. But luckily there were available looseleaf lettuces, Romaine lettuces and potatoes, to choose from and they are perfect to use for salads.

Another thing, you’ve got to taste their Strawberry ice cream! Nothing is as sweet as theirs! Everytime I go to Baguio there were two delicacies I shouldn’t miss, their Strawberry ice cream and Strawberry taho! YUM!

Strawberry Farm

Most importantly, take a moment to relax, enjoy every trip and taste the culture of each mesmerizing destination.
